Sacred Medicine Retreats

Portugal Retreat with Becca Williams

From Inner Turmoil to Inner Peace

If you're a perceptive, soulful person who's ready to reset the patterns & beliefs that upset your life, then join us in captivating Southern Portugal for an immersive and cost-accessible spiritual adventure.

Our retreat time comes with nourishing vegetarian/vegan food, a cozy bed, sacred medicine, and curated activities to stroke your soul, unleash belly laughs, and nurture meaningful connections. Retreats are intentionally designed to create deep, heartfelt connections, whether we have three attendees or ten.

Sacred Plant Medicine, Held With Care

When integrated with Emotional Liberation techniques, these experiences aim to enhance emotional healing and self-discovery for deeper introspection. The spiritual journeying ceremonies with plant medicine are included in the retreat cost, and you'll be fully supported and guided at every level, no matter your experience with plant medicine.

1:1 sessions are included before the retreat to help you prepare, and after to help the experience settle into your everyday life.

In 2001, Portugal decriminalized the possession and consumption of all drugs for personal use. Personal use of substances is not illegal but operates in an undefined regulatory space.

Nourishment, Inside and Out

You'll be served nourishing vegan/vegetarian meals that complement your retreat experience: all plant-based (with the occasional addition of eggs) and prepared fresh, in-house. On the macro-journey ceremony day(s), we eat more lightly, since medicine is most effective on an empty stomach, which also helps prevent nausea.

Nourishing the body isn't just about physical health. It's about creating harmony within, allowing your mind to clear so your spirit can flourish.

A Journey That Stays With You

Our days together are designed to provide a powerful, transformative journey that will resonate long after you leave. Through sacred teachings and poignant discussions, you'll discover why your difficult emotions can elevate your own personal well-being, and commit to a path toward emotional growth and resilience.

Southern Portugal

Weather: we typically host retreats during the spring and fall, when the weather is mild, sunny, and warm. Balmy enough to relax poolside or on the beach during the day, with a light layer for evenings out.

Safety & culture: the Portuguese have a charming way about them, with a kindness and spirit of generosity that's irresistible. The country is one of the safest in the world, and here in the south, English is widely spoken and makes it easy to communicate.

Solo travelers: if you're attending by yourself, you'll be among like-minded friends in a welcoming environment.

The retreat's program harmonizes with your needs, whether there are areas in your life that simply need tending to, or deeper issues you'd like to explore in order to process and release.

Meet Becca

I know what it's like to live with out-of-control emotions, the kind where rare periods of relief would evaporate as soon as somebody would say or do something, or an errant thought would poke me and I was, once again, caught in a tsunami of emotional flooding.

I spent decades looking for relief. Talk therapy allowed me to talk about my pain and what caused it, and while it felt good to be witnessed, it didn't affect big changes. I tried the quiet sitting of mindfulness meditation repeatedly but eventually abandoned it because of my relentless pounding thoughts and dissociation.

In 2014, I encountered the healing method that ended my search and has since helped thousands of others. It's a revolutionary discovery that emotions are an essential part of our very accurate sensory system, a source of information to avoid trouble, heal the past, and help access the peace and happiness that are the goal of every being.

Through this work we learn what emotions are and why they are "bothering" us, and then intuitively drop in to feel them by accessing our invisible inner life through active breathwork and expressive body movements. Through this Emotional Liberation method, we process and release the emotional pain and the trauma that underpins it, whether it's a little or a lot. As an emotions therapist, I've found that for many, the judicious use of psilocybin supports and amplifies this process.

This program catalyzed me to drop my work as a health editor (I'm a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist) and television producer, and invest my life in supporting others in releasing their destructive and self-defeating patterns. It's my honor to do this work: to help you identify your roadblocks, heal, raise your vibration, transform, and live your best life now.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the location of the retreat?

Our accommodations are based in Lagos. The address will be provided upon registration.

How does the plant medicine mesh with the Emotional Liberation work?

Incorporating plant medicine with the Emotional Liberation techniques opens you more deeply to the introspection and insights brought about by our work together, designed to connect you with your intuition through sacred ceremony, reflection time, and integration. When we complete the retreat, you'll have insights and tools to take with you to continue your healing journey, and the included 1:1 sessions, before to help you prepare and after to help it settle in, mean we stay connected along the way. You are not alone in this journey.

Is a psilocybin session safe?

Yes, though there can be circumstances that need to be checked first. We carefully screen the health condition and medications of our participants to ensure we can safely provide psilocybin. Becca is a highly trained and experienced facilitator, able to create a safe space of support for all participants equally. Psilocybin is generally very safe when working with it responsibly.

Are there potential adverse effects of psilocybin?

Psilocybin is cautioned or strongly advised against for:

  • People with medically diagnosed psychoses, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorders, or schizophrenia
  • Chronic high blood pressure and unstable heart conditions
  • Pregnant or lactating women
  • Anyone on depressants/sleeping pills, SSRIs, anti-hypertensives, or MAOIs

To optimize your experience, before the retreat, you'll be asked to avoid recreational drugs, other psychedelics, alcohol, and any prescription medications that can interact with plant medicine (antidepressants, sedatives, stimulants, and blood pressure medications). Full guidance is provided during our client intake session.

Are there medical staff on site?

This is a leisure retreat, not a medical facility. There's no medical staff on site, and it isn't equipped to care for guests needing medical attention. Guests with medical conditions should consult their doctor before booking, and agree to our full terms and conditions, which state that they accept full responsibility for their own health.

Where do I fly into?

The main airport in Southern Portugal is Faro (FAO), about 50 minutes from Lagos. You can fly directly into Faro and take a train or bus to Lagos, or fly into Lisbon and connect: either a short flight to Faro then a 1-hour train to Lagos, or a scenic 3–4 hour train or bus ride straight from Lisbon to Lagos (Becca's personal favorite).

What should I bring?

A positive attitude and open heart; your passport; only biodegradable soaps and shampoos; yoga pants or loose-fitting pants for easy movement; a swimsuit and cover-up; sandals and walking shoes; a sun hat; a light jacket or wrap for evenings; and a reusable, spill-proof water bottle.

If I can only come to part of the retreat, can I still join?

It isn't possible to arrive late or leave early, as this disrupts the group dynamic and the flow of programming. And energetically, we can't be responsible for what may occur should you choose to leave early.
